In 1984, the Cornish Tartan underwent a transformation to provide a more subtle option to the bold and bright Cornish National Tartan, originally designed by E.E. Morton-Nance. Spearheaded by Cornovi Creations of Cornwall, this new design reflected a shared Celtic heritage, not just exclusive to the Scots. The tartan's design incorporates the colors of the Cornish flag, which features a white cross on a black background with gold lions in each quarter. With evidence of habitation dating back to the Neolithic era, Cornwall has a rich history and culture. The tartan was first created in the 1960s by local weaver Alec Walker to celebrate and promote Cornish identity.
